Op Coastline returns! |
||
|
As we approach the May Bank Holiday weekend and the start of the busy coastal season, Operation Coastline returns with a renewed focus on keeping our seaside communities safe, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. The warmer weather traditionally brings higher numbers of visitors to the coast, and officers will be out in greater visibility across key locations, supporting residents, businesses and those enjoying time by the sea. The emphasis remains on early intervention, prevention, and reassurance making people feel safe throughout their visit. While most people come to the coast to enjoy everything it has to offer, the increase in footfall can sometimes lead to challenges, including antisocial behaviour and opportunistic offences. Operation Coastline brings together local policing teams and partner agencies to address these issues proactively, with a particular focus on the busiest areas over peak periods. Throughout the bank holiday weekend and beyond, officers will be working across identified hotspots, engaging with the public, supporting local businesses, and encouraging positive behaviour from visitors of all ages. The approach is highly visible and targeted to the areas and times where it is most needed. Head of Community Safety Superintendent Paul French said: “Our priority is simple. We want people to feel safe and be able to enjoy our coastal communities and resorts. “Operation Coastline is about being visible, approachable, and working with our partners to prevent incidents and deal with concerns early. “By focusing on reassurance and early intervention, we can make a difference to those who live, work, and visit here. “This operation builds on work already underway, delivering tangible results including tackling road safety issues, addressing antisocial behaviour, and taking action against those causing harm. “We look forward to sharing regular updates on our activity and results over the weeks and months ahead.” We continue to encourage anyone who witnesses or experiences offences to report them, as this helps us build a clearer picture and respond effectively. We remain committed to tackling criminality across our coastal areas. Information can also be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers.org.uk.
